Where I Stand On
Important Issues
Focusing on what matters most to Ohio House District 89.
-
Local Jobs. Local Growth. Real Results.
Families across our district deserve the chance to build stable, secure lives right here at home. I’m focused on growing our local economy in ways that create good-paying jobs, support small businesses, and keep opportunity in our communities.
That means investing in infrastructure projects that put people to work immediately while improving the roads, water systems, and broadband our businesses rely on. It means expanding workforce training partnerships between local schools, community colleges, and employers so students graduate with skills that lead directly to careers. And it means making it easier for small businesses to start, hire, and grow by cutting unnecessary red tape and improving access to low-interest development loans.
Our region has incredible potential—from small manufacturers to family farms to local entrepreneurs. With smart state-level policies, we can attract new industries, strengthen the ones already here, and make sure economic growth benefits working families, not just out-of-town corporations.
Turning that vision into reality requires targeted, proven economic policies that support local growth and long-term stability:
- Increased state investment in infrastructure through existing transportation and capital improvement programs
- Expansion of workforce development funding for career-technical education and apprenticeship programs
- Support for partnerships between community colleges and local industries to align training with workforce needs
- Streamlined state licensing and permitting processes for small businesses
- Expansion of access to state-backed small business financing and development programs
- Incentives tied to local hiring and job creation to ensure public investment benefits the community

Strong Schools, Strong Communities.
I believe every student in Ohio deserves a strong foundation and real opportunities to succeed. Quality K–12 education isn’t just about textbooks and test scores—it’s about preparing our kids for the challenges of tomorrow, supporting teachers in the classroom, and ensuring every school has the resources it needs to thrive. That means making sure public school funding goes where it’s needed most and reducing private school vouchers that drain resources from our community schools. I am committed to policies that invest in our schools, expand access to technology and extracurricular programs, and give every child the tools to reach their full potential. Education is the key to opportunity, and I will fight to make it a priority for our community.
Strengthening our public education system requires targeted, evidence-based reforms that prioritize classroom funding and student outcomes:
- Prioritizing state funding formulas that direct more resources to public schools with higher needs
- Evaluating and restructuring voucher programs to ensure they do not undermine funding for public school districts
- Increasing investment in classroom resources, updated learning materials, and school infrastructure
- Expanding career and technical education (CTE) programs and apprenticeship pathways for high school students
- Supporting teacher recruitment and retention through competitive compensation and professional development funding
- Expanding access to school-based technology and digital learning tools to close opportunity gaps

A Home for Every Family.
Too many families in Northern Ohio are being priced out of the communities they call home. Affordable housing isn’t just a line on a policy sheet—it’s the difference between stability and constant stress, between opportunity and being stuck. I want to make sure development benefits local residents, that public resources support the families who need them most, and that housing policies don’t drain our communities of the people who make them strong. Everyone deserves a place to live with dignity, and I’m ready to fight for it.
To make housing more affordable and protect long-term residents, I will support the following policies:
- Expanding local and state investment in affordable and workforce housing development through existing housing and community development programs
- Strengthening oversight and regulation of short-term and transient rental properties to protect long-term housing supply for residents
- Reforming property tax structures to provide more targeted relief for longtime and middle-income homeowners, particularly those on fixed incomes
- Prioritizing public investment in housing initiatives that directly benefit residents rather than outside investors or speculative development
- Reevaluating the use of publicly funded private school voucher programs to ensure they do not divert resources away from community priorities, including local housing and public services
- Supporting zoning and planning reforms that encourage responsible development while preserving neighborhood stability
-
Government That Puts People First.
Too often, government works for special interests instead of the people it’s meant to serve. Misleading policies, hidden fees, and a lack of financial transparency make it hard for families to trust their leaders. I’m committed to changing that by making government open, accountable, and responsive—ensuring that decisions and public dollars reflect the needs of our communities, not the agendas of the well-connected. Leadership should be accessible, honest, and grounded in the everyday realities of the people it represents—and that’s exactly what I’m here to deliver.
To restore trust and ensure government works for the people, I will support practical, proven reforms:
- Independent audits of state programs to evaluate effectiveness and identify waste, using existing state audit authorities and regular performance reviews
- Public access to spending data through clear, itemized online reporting of how state funds are allocated and used
- Stronger financial disclosure requirements for elected officials and candidates, ensuring potential conflicts of interest are visible to the public
- Clearer fee and tax transparency laws so residents can easily understand the true cost of government services and policies
- Regular review of state programs through sunset provisions or legislative oversight to determine whether programs should be continued, reformed, or ended
- Open meetings and records compliance enforcement, ensuring government bodies follow transparency laws and respond to public records requests in a timely manner
-
Farming for Our Future.
Farming is the backbone of Northern Ohio, and I’ve seen firsthand how hard our farmers work to feed families while facing rising costs, unpredictable markets, and regulatory challenges. Our state government has a responsibility to support agriculture, from investing in local infrastructure and fair pricing policies to protecting farmland and promoting sustainable practices. I am committed to standing with our farmers, ensuring their voices are heard in Columbus, and helping Northern Ohio remain a place where agriculture—and the communities it sustains—can thrive.
Supporting agriculture requires practical, results-driven policies that strengthen the long-term viability of family farms and rural communities:
- Expanding investment in rural infrastructure, including roads, broadband, and water systems that support agricultural operations and distribution
- Supporting programs that help beginning farmers access land, capital, and technical assistance
- Strengthening farmland preservation efforts to protect agricultural land from unnecessary development pressure
- Improving access to state agricultural grants, cost-share programs, and risk management tools for family farms
- Promoting local and regional food supply chains to increase market stability for Ohio producers
- Supporting research and extension services through Ohio’s land-grant institutions to improve long-term sustainability and productivity
-
Clean Air, Clean Water.
Clean air and clean water are fundamental to the health, safety, and future of our communities. In Northern Ohio, we are fortunate to live near some of the most important freshwater resources in the world, but they must be protected and responsibly managed for future generations. I am committed to ensuring that families have access to safe drinking water, that our air quality meets strong health standards, and that environmental protections are enforced in a way that prioritizes public health and long-term sustainability.
That means holding polluters accountable, supporting efforts to reduce harmful emissions, and ensuring that state agencies have the resources they need to monitor and enforce environmental standards. It also means investing in infrastructure that protects water systems, prevents contamination, and modernizes aging public utilities that communities rely on every day.
Protecting our environment also means making smart, practical decisions that balance economic growth with long-term public health. Strong environmental standards should not be viewed as obstacles to development, but as essential safeguards that ensure our communities remain safe and livable for generations to come.
To protect clean air and clean water across Northern Ohio, I will support the following policies:
- Strengthening enforcement of state and federal air and water quality standards through existing environmental regulatory agencies
- Increasing investment in water infrastructure upgrades, including lead pipe replacement and modernization of aging water systems
- Expanding monitoring and testing of public water systems to ensure safe drinking water for all communities
- Supporting cleanup and remediation of contaminated sites, including brownfields and industrial pollution areas
- Promoting emissions reduction strategies that target major sources of air pollution while supporting economic stability
- Expanding transparency in environmental reporting so communities can access clear, timely information about local air and water quality
-
Making Healthcare Affordable.
Too many families in our district are just one medical emergency away from crushing debt. Rising healthcare costs aren’t just a personal problem—they’re a statewide issue that demands action in our legislature. I am committed to supporting state policies that expand access to affordable care, cap unnecessary medical fees, and ensure Ohioans aren’t forced to choose between their health and their financial stability. Healthcare should protect families, not push them deeper into debt, and I will fight in Columbus to make that a reality for every community in our district.
That means focusing on policies that increase price transparency, reduce unnecessary administrative costs, and strengthen access to affordable care across both rural and urban communities. It also means supporting efforts to address prescription drug pricing and ensure that essential medications remain within reach for working families.
To reduce healthcare costs and improve access for Ohio families, I will support the following policies:
- Expanding healthcare price transparency requirements so patients can better understand the cost of care before receiving treatment
- Supporting state-level efforts to reduce prescription drug costs through bulk purchasing and price negotiation strategies where legally permitted
- Increasing access to community-based and rural healthcare providers to reduce gaps in coverage and care availability
- Strengthening oversight of medical billing practices to reduce surprise billing and unnecessary fees
- Supporting expansion of preventive care and early intervention programs to reduce long-term healthcare costs
- Improving coordination between state programs and local health systems to increase efficiency and reduce administrative waste

Standing With Our Veterans.
While talking to voters across the 89th District, I’ve heard from many veterans who feel forgotten by the very decisions that are supposed to protect and support them. Too often, the benefits they rely on don’t cover the injuries or challenges caused by their service, leaving them to navigate a system that falls short. I am committed to listening, advocating, and fighting for policies that ensure veterans receive the care, resources, and respect they have earned. Our community thrives when those who served are supported, valued, and never left behind.
That means strengthening state-level support systems that complement federal veterans’ programs and ensure veterans in Ohio can access the services they are entitled to without unnecessary barriers. It also means improving coordination between state agencies, local providers, and veterans’ service organizations to ensure benefits are delivered efficiently and effectively.
To better support veterans at the state level, I will support the following policies:
•Expanding funding for Ohio’s state veterans services programs that assist with benefits navigation, housing support, and employment services
•Strengthening partnerships between state agencies and county veterans service offices to improve access and reduce delays in assistance
•Increasing access to mental health and substance use treatment programs tailored to veterans through state-supported healthcare initiatives
•Supporting job training and workforce reentry programs specifically designed for veterans transitioning to civilian employment
•Improving coordination between state housing programs and veterans’ assistance services to reduce homelessness among veterans
•Ensuring timely processing and improved communication within state-level veterans support systems
