Easton Retzke Joins No Kings Day Event in Vermilion, Highlighting Grassroots Democracy
March 28, 2026
Vermilion, Ohio — Easton Retzke, candidate for Ohio House District 89, joined community members today in Vermilion for the No Kings Day event, sponsored by Firelands Indivisible, where hundreds of people gathered to take part in a day of civic engagement and conversation.
The event centered on the idea that government should be accountable to the people it represents. Residents from across the region came together in large numbers to talk about the issues shaping their daily lives and their communities, including rising costs, housing affordability, public education, and the need for greater transparency in state government. Many attendees also spoke about feeling disconnected from decision-making and the importance of rebuilding that connection through local organizing and participation.
Throughout the event, attendees shared personal stories and lived experiences about the pressures they are facing and what they are seeing in their communities. The conversations remained focused on everyday concerns, with an emphasis on staying engaged, informed, and active in shaping the direction of the state.
Retzke spent time speaking with attendees and listening to their concerns, emphasizing the importance of showing up consistently and engaging directly with the people affected by policy decisions.
“Our government only works when it reflects the people it serves,” Retzke said. “That means being present, listening to what people are going through, and building real power from the ground up with working families leading the way.”
The event highlighted the role that local organizing and community conversations continue to play in building stronger representation and a more responsive political system. Attendees emphasized the value of spaces where people can speak openly, connect with one another, and focus on shared priorities.
Retzke’s campaign continues to focus on economic revitalization across Ohio House District 89, including strengthening public schools, expanding access to affordable housing, investing in infrastructure, and improving transparency in state government.
