Retzke Attends Women’s March, Joins Call for Equality and Economic Justice

Sandusky, Ohio – Retzke joined community members at the Brave Women’s March held today, where participants gathered in support of women’s rights, equal protection under the law, and broader demands for transparency and accountability in government and public institutions.

The event brought together residents from across the region who spoke about healthcare access, reproductive freedom, workplace fairness, and the ongoing economic pressures affecting working families. Alongside these concerns, attendees also emphasized the importance of transparency in government decision-making and the need for stronger oversight and public accountability in institutions where trust has been eroded.

Many participants pointed to recent public demonstrations focused on government transparency and accountability, including calls for full disclosure and consistent standards of justice in high-profile cases that have drawn national attention. The broader theme throughout the day centered on restoring public trust through openness, rather than secrecy or unequal treatment under the law.

Retzke spent time speaking with attendees and hearing directly from residents about how these issues intersect in their daily lives, particularly where economic strain and institutional trust overlap.

“People are asking for something very basic: honesty, fairness, and a system that applies the same rules to everyone,” Retzke said. “When people feel like information is being withheld or accountability depends on who you are, it erodes trust in everything else, including the issues they deal with every day like wages, healthcare, and housing.”

The atmosphere of the march reflected both urgency and persistence, with participants stressing the importance of continued civic engagement and local organizing. While many expressed frustration with current systems, there was also a strong sense of shared purpose and a belief that sustained public pressure can lead to change.

Retzke noted that these conversations reflect what is being heard across the district, especially around the need for greater transparency in government and policies that prioritize working families over entrenched interests.

The campaign continues to focus on economic development, public education, affordable housing, and government transparency in spending and decision-making, with an emphasis on rebuilding trust through accountability and openness.

Retzke plans to continue attending community events and listening sessions in the weeks ahead as part of ongoing outreach across Ohio House District 89
