Sandusky City Commissioner Richard Koonce Endorses Easton Retzke for Ohio House District 89

SANDUSKY, Ohio — Ohio House District 89 Democratic candidate Easton Retzke announced today that Sandusky City Commissioner Richard Koonce has endorsed his campaign for State Representative.

Koonce, who serves as a Sandusky City Commissioner, joins a growing list of community leaders and organizations supporting Retzke’s campaign as the November election approaches.

“I am honored to have the support of Commissioner Koonce,” said Retzke. “Richard has dedicated himself to serving the people of Sandusky, and his support means a great deal to me personally. Growing up here, I know how important it is to have leaders who understand our community, listen to residents, and care about the future of our region.”

Retzke said Koonce’s endorsement reflects the campaign’s focus on bringing a community-first perspective to the Ohio Statehouse.

“Our campaign is about making sure the people of Erie, Ottawa, and Huron Counties have a real voice in Columbus,” Retzke said. “We need to put working people and our communities first, stand up for our schools, protect Lake Erie, support good-paying jobs, and make sure decisions made in Columbus actually reflect what people here need.”

Retzke, a lifelong Sandusky resident, is running on a platform focused on working families, fair school funding, property tax relief, protecting Lake Erie, strengthening local economies, and ensuring the region has a stronger voice in state government.

“I’m grateful to Commissioner Koonce for putting his support behind our campaign,” Retzke added. “I’m proud to have him with us as we continue building this movement across the district.”
