SANDUSKY, Ohio — Reflecting on the multigenerational history of his family in Northern Ohio, Easton Retzke, candidate for Ohio House District 89, released a personal statement connecting his platform of grassroots leadership to the values passed down through his family’s small business heritage in Sandusky.
For generations, the Retzke and Mineo families have lived, worked, and served in Erie County. Among those local roots was Mineo Grocery, a neighborhood staple in Sandusky that served as more than just a place to buy everyday goods. For decades, the store was a community gathering space where neighbors caught up, supported one another during tough times, and built the strong relationships that define Sandusky and the surrounding region today.
Recalling historic family photos from the store’s early days, Retzke emphasized that his commitment to public service stems directly from the work ethic, integrity, and neighbor-helping-neighbor values instilled by his family’s long presence in the district.
“This community has been home to my family for generations, and it is where I learned the values of hard work, honesty, and looking out for your neighbors,” said Easton Retzke. “When people remember stopping by Mineo Grocery, they remember a place built on trust and personal connections. Seeing those old photos is a constant reminder that my roots here run deep. I am running for State Representative because I want to give back to the place that has given so much to my family.”
Retzke noted that these foundational values continue to shape his legislative priorities for Ohio House District 89, which encompasses Erie, Ottawa, and Huron counties. His platform focuses on supporting small businesses, protecting local taxpayers, fully funding community public schools, and ensuring state government remains accountable to working families.
