Easton Retzke Receives Endorsement from the UAW Tri-County CAP Council
May 8, 2026
SANDUSKY, Ohio — Easton Retzke, Democratic candidate for Ohio House District 89, is proud to announce he has received the endorsement of the UAW Tri-County CAP Council, representing union workers, retirees, and working families throughout OH HD-89 and its communities.
For Retzke, this endorsement is personal.
Raised in the same communities he’s now asking to represent, Retzke says his campaign has always been about the people who get up early, work long shifts, raise families, and still wonder how much further their paycheck is going to stretch. Whether it’s rising housing costs, groceries that seem to cost more every week, or young people feeling like they have to leave Northern Ohio just to build a future, Retzke says working families deserve leaders who understand those struggles because they’ve lived them.
Easton comes from a family with deep roots in union work and public service. He grew up around people who believed in showing up, doing honest work, and taking care of the communities they are part of. Those values were not just talked about, they were lived, and they shaped how he understands the role of government. For him, it has always been about working families having a real voice in the decisions that affect their lives and making sure public service actually serves the public.
“To receive the support of the UAW Tri-County CAP Council means a great deal to me,” said Retzke. “This isn’t just another endorsement. This comes from working people—people who know what it means to clock in every day, to fight for fair wages, safe workplaces, and the dignity that every worker deserves.”
Retzke said organized labor has always played a major role in building communities like Sandusky and across Northwest and Northern Ohio, helping generations of families buy homes, raise children, and build stable lives.
“For too long, politicians in Columbus have been willing to talk about workers during election season, but too often they forget about them once they get there,” Retzke said. “I’m running because I believe working people deserve more than speeches. They deserve someone who will actually show up, listen, and fight for them.”
Throughout his campaign, Retzke has centered issues directly affecting working families, including lowering housing costs, strengthening public education, investing in infrastructure and passenger rail, creating good-paying jobs, and making sure economic growth reaches communities that too often get left behind.
The endorsement from the UAW Tri-County CAP Council marks a major show of confidence in a campaign focused on bringing a new generation of working-class leadership to the Statehouse.
“I’m deeply honored to have their support,” Retzke added. “And when I earn the trust of the people of District 89, I’ll carry the voices of workers with me every single day.”
